Instructions:
- Secure base of microphone housing to keep it from rolling or sliding off of work surface.
- Remove the four Philips screws that hold the front case to the microphone housing. Remove the front case and set aside.
- Unscrew the four Phillips screws that hold the black microphone cartridge into the housing. Save two as they will be used to secure the new cartridge.
- Carefully withdraw the microphone cartridge taking care not to stretch or break the three wire leads; blue, black and yellow.
- Cut the three wires at the base of the cartridge. Discard cartridge. (55SH only)
For Super 55: Unsolder wires at PC board.
- Holding the wires out and down towards the stem of the microphone, place the Super 55 bracket/cartridge assembly into the microphone housing. Do not force. Cartridge will only fit if the PC board and solder pads are facing up and at the bottom of the base.
- Install two of the screws that held the old cartridge in place in the upper two holes of the bracket. Install the two longer screws, supplied with the kit, into the lower 2 holes of the bracket. Tighten the screws to hold the bracket in the housing.
- Strip off approximately ¼ in of insulation from the end of each wire and tin with solder. (55SH only)
- Solder each wire to the pad on the circuit board labeled with its corresponding color. Solder Yellow wire to yellow pad , black to black, and blue to blue (see note).
When replacing the cartridge in the Super 55 there is no blue wire.
- Tuck any excess wire under the bracket.
- Place the front case half back on the microphone housing with the Shure logo oriented as shown in illustration.
- Reinstall and tighten the four Phillips screws that were removed in step two. Return handle to normal position.
